The making of fabric guards

All of the processes involved in making and packaging our thumb and finger guards are carried out in a smoke and pet free environment. The fabric is deliberately not washed before it is sewn into a guard. We are also mindful of allergies and take care whilst making the guards however we strongly recommend washing all fabric guards before use, especially if the child has a known allergy.

The Velcro®, especially cut for Thumbsie® with rounded edges before it is sewn into each glove/guard. We do not use pins in the making of our guards only plastic clips.

Allergies

We take great care whilst making your thumb and finger gloves but we do recommend pre-washing especially if your child has known allergies. We make and prepare for packing in a smoke and pet free environment.

Looking after your thumb or finger guards

Wash on a 30-degree delicate setting or hand wash; use a low temperature if tumble drying and a standard cotton iron setting.

If the fabric gloves starts to fray after use or are being chewed or bitten, it’s probably time to get a new one so that small pieces of fabric are not coming away. If in the unlikely situation the Velcro® stitching comes away, then it is recommended that they are not worn and replaced.

Thumb gloves are suggested to be worn day and night and as such it is recommend buying three for each thumb they suck, this way the child will always have a dry and clean one to wear. If the glove becomes wet due to sucking or accidentally washing hands or putting hands in water with it on, then remove and replace with a dry one.
