Before You Buy

Products

All Thumbsie® fabric gloves are handmade and as such variations can occur although all our seamstresses work to a sizing template.  All efforts are made to represent colours accurately, but please note that colours may not match exactly on your computer monitor. We recommend replacing you Thumbsie® fabric gloves every 6-8 weeks.

The making of fabric guards

Thumbsie® are made from polycotton, cotton or poplin cotton and the inside branded fabric is cotton fine warp satin. The fabric is deliberately not washed before it is sewn into a guard. Thumbsie® are made in a smoke and pet free environment, we are also mindful of allergies and take care whilst making the guards however we strongly recommend washing all fabric guards before use, especially if the child has a known allergy. Make sure you are happy with the size and fit before washing.

Success

Whilst we have a great success record and great Google reviews, please note that some children do take longer to break the habit than others and there are no guarantees of success using these fabric guards. Please note that the guards are secured with velcro.

Suitability

We advise that a child under the age of 36 months is not left unsupervised wearing a Thumbsie® fabric glove. We do not recommend Thumbsie® for children under the age of 3. Children are the responsibility of the parent or carer.  If the fabric gloves starts to fray after use or are being chewed or bitten, it’s probably time to get a new one so that small pieces of fabric are not coming away. If in the unlikely situation the Velcro® stitching comes away, then it is recommended that they are not worn and replaced. If its been less than 8 weeks since you purchased then please do get in touch.

Comfort and allergies

The guard should fit comfortably around the wrist. If you think they are the wrong size, DO NOT WASH OR WEAR THEM as we will not be able to exchange if they are not in a saleable condition. If you need to exchange please see below. If you are happy with your purchase then please wash the items before use.  We take great care whilst making your thumb and finger gloves but we do recommend pre-washing especially if your child has known allergies.

Measuring

It is important to get a good fit, so please take care when measuring. There are no left and right, a Thumbsies® thumb guard can fit either hand, make sure you order enough guards for each hand that they suck. A Thumbsies® finger guard will fit either hand and will fit the middle two fingers (middle and ring or middle and index). If you are unsure please give us a call on 07766836261.

How Many to Buy

We strongly recommend that your child wears a Thumbsies® at all times.  They are made of cotton and can be washed at a low temperature. We recommend that you buy 2 or 3 Thumbsies® for each thumb that they suck. This way you can always have a clean one ready to put on when one is dirty.
