We have some really exciting news: we have designed our very own fabrics. How cool is that?
You may or may not know, but the fabric for our most popular designs has stopped being made, and we’ve struggled to find a replacement from a British-based supplier.
Thumbsie is an ethical company and we’re not keen to ship products from overseas due to the carbon footprint.
So, what to do? Simple: we’ve decided to design new fabrics ourselves.
We want all our fabrics to be 100 per cent cotton and ideally to have a darker colour background, so that when they get grubby it is not so obvious. We also feel that cotton washes better and is more comfortable to wear. And it’s so important to us that the fabric is OEKO-TEX certified, meaning that no harmful substances have been used in making and printing the fabric.
Bearing all that in mind, it seemed obvious that we simply had to design a new fabric. Jo, our founder, was introduced to Amy Gaunt, a textile designer from Derby, with over twenty years’ experience. Amy’s designs are simply brilliant, and they are digitally printed by the Suffolk based company Stuart Morris. Totally British made!
We’ll be launching these new designs on our website shortly. The first nine will be: Unicorn, Panda, Horse, Cars, Dinos, Ballerina, Leopard print, Superhero and Dogs.
