This month Thumbsie® celebrates our eleventh birthday – and what a year it has been.
Over the last twelve months we’ve won six awards and been shortlisted for a number of others. One particular highlight was winning in the Maker and Creator Entrepreneur category at the Great British Entrepreneur Awards. We also picked up a number of wins at the Business Awards UK, in addition to the Southern Enterprise Awards and the British Made Awards.
As pleasing as it is to be recognised for all our hard work, it hasn’t all been about awards this year.
We also launched a new product: our very own Thumbsie Skin Balm. This is an ethically produced substance which is ideal for soothing cracked and broken skin. This product is multi-use and can be used on lips as well as thumbs and fingers. Our tubs of skin balm are flying off the shelves, so be sure to order one for your child.
We also had some really good news from the Oral Health Foundation this year, with our accreditation being extended for a further three years. This seal of approval from such a well-known and influential organisation is hugely important for us. It shows what a respected product Thumbsie® is as a thumb sucking aid.
This year, like every year, we have helped over 5000 children to stop digit sucking, skin picking and hair pulling and we continue to give daily advice to parents over the phone, email and social media.
Best of all, we have continued to get fantastic reviews from happy parents. On Facebook we have a 4.9 out of 5 rating, while on Google we have 4.8 out of 5, from over 400 reviews. And on Etsy we have an incredible 5 out of 5 rating from 350 reviews.
A few comments from happy parents:
“My 6-year-old daughter has sucked her thumb since she was a baby, and I was beginning to think we would just have to accept this. Any other way we’d tried to get her to stop had failed. However, she kept asking us to help her and I came across Thumbsie. The many designs helped as she loves
cheetah print fabric and she took to wearing it straight away at night. After a couple of months of
wearing it she asked to take it off and she now no longer sucks her thumb. I am proud of her for giving this a go and also over the moon this has worked. Thanks Thumbsie. I would recommend this – even if you feel doubtful.”
“Eva has sucked her thumb since she was born, at night, when tired, when anxious ie a lot! I never thought this would work but it’s been over 4 weeks now and she’s not sucked her thumb once! She enjoyed picking the fabric and Jo was really helpful with this. The only problem I have now is that she won’t take the Thumbsie off! Thanks Jo we’re all so happy it’s working and proud of Eva.”
“After 8 years of thumb sucking and many failed attempts to give up, my daughter finally stopped sucking her thumb after wearing her Thumbsie for just 3-4 weeks in the evenings and at night time. Being able to pick her own fabric design was a real plus. A huge thank you!”
