Because I’m Happy….(and a Winner)

Last Friday, saw the culmination of 6 years’ hard work finally pay off.  Third year lucky, Thumbsie® was finally named winner of the Best Consumer or Retail Business at the prestigious Best Business Women Awards.  As Pharrell Williams’ ‘Happy’ blasted out across the room at the Tower Hotel London, I found myself on stage clasping my national award and hardly daring to believe it.

The Best Business Women Awards seek to find the very best female business talent from across the UK often those who are also juggling the needs of their families at the same time.  My business, Thumbsie ® started because of my family; my youngest daughter needed extra help to give up thumb sucking.  Having tried so many nasty and unsuccessful solutions, I came up with a fabric glove and within weeks she had given up painlessly and positively.

Fast forward six years and I have been able to make Thumbsie® my day job pursuing a passion that I really love and helping other families in similar stressful situations. I am over the moon that Thumbsie® has won this award.  The feedback that I get from people who use it is so positive – it has offered hundreds of children a gentle and effective way to stop sucking.  I hope that winning this award will mean that even more families discover how to take the stress out of stopping thumb sucking.

The awards night itself was amazing and the entertainment was great; Big Mama Funk got everyone to their feet and singing “I’m Every Woman” very uplifting and inspiring for all the brilliant business women in the room.

The judges commented that the Best Consumer Business category had very strong competition with entries from all over the UK.  They said that my unique business had identified a gap in the market and is very successful on so many levels, including my customer service which I absolutely pride myself upon.

I’m really grateful to everyone involved in making Thumbsie® the success it is, and want to thank my lovely customers for their brilliant feedback and recommendations.  I’m absolutely on cloud nine and can’t wait for the next 6 years working with my wonderful consumer business.
