We’re thrilled to say that, for the second year in a row, our innovative work has been recognised by the prestigious Southern Enterprise Awards.
The awards, hosted by SME News, celebrate small and medium-sized businesses in southern England, and they are now in their seventh year. Given that businesses in the south of England have the second largest turnover in the UK – behind London – this is an especially prestigious award to win.
Following our win in the Most Innovative Children’s Dental Health Product category last year, we have been victorious this year too.
Speaking about our success, Jo Bates, the founder of Thumbsie, said:
“It was a real joy to win a Southern Enterprise Award last year. To win the same award this year – for innovative children’s dental health product – is just perfect. I’m so happy and proud to be recognised for our innovation. Most importantly, it is wonderful to be given an award for helping children. That’s at the very heart of what Thumbsie is about.
“We’re not interested in the glitz and glamour of winning awards. What humbles us is being recognised for the impact our thumb guards have had on children’s lives. That’s what’s important.
What are the Southern Enterprise Awards?
The Southern Enterprise Awards celebrate and recognise the achievements of small and medium businesses in southern England. Awards are given solely on merit and are awarded to commend those most deserving for their ingenuity and hard work, distinguishing them from their competitors and proving them worthy of recognition
How are winners chosen?
The awards are run by SME News, a business publisher who have been around for almost 12 years. The dedicated awards team review all supporting evidence provided by nominees and also undertake extremely thorough research of businesses. Several criteria are involved in the final decision, including longevity, sustained business growth, rapid business growth, innovations and testimonials. Following this process, a judges panel of five SME News staff is randomly picked and they decide on the eventual winner.
