No sooner is Thumbsie® back from winning Best Business Woman Award for Best Consumer or Retail Business, than it has been nominated for a prize in the Dental Industry Awards in association with British Dental Industry Association. This time the category is ‘Innovation of the Year’ which recognises Thumbsie’s work with supporting the dental industry, offering a brilliant solution to the dental problems caused by thumb and finger sucking.
This national award, in its fourth year, is for those individuals or companies that have delivered an innovative product or service to the dental market over the course of the last 12 months. During that time Thumbsie® has not only launched its Thumb Sucking Clinics, but also created and produced a book ‘Thumbs Up for Ted’s Thumbsie’ to help children trying to stop the habit.
The Thumb Sucking Clinic which took place at Pure Dentistry in Harpenden proved very popular with lots of local families, who had all been trying to stop sucking. Dr Dan Shaffer from the practice, said, “The session was a really positive opportunity for people to share problems and look at solutions.” The Thumbsie® book is a heart-warming picture book story about a pre-school child, Ted, who wants to give up thumb sucking before he starts primary school – and does so with the help of his Thumbsie®.
Speaking of the awards, the judges commented, ‘This year we received more entries than ever so to make it to the finals is a tremendous result. Shortlisting has been tricky, and judging will be exhaustive, as standards have been very high this year.’
Jo said, ‘We are working really hard with the dental industry to prevent problems caused by prolonged thumb or finger sucking which can lead to painful and expensive dental treatment. I hope that being a nominee in these prestigious awards will mean that more dentists and therefore more families find out about our positive, effective and easy way to stop sucking.’
The winners will be announced at a black tie gala dinner at the Royal Garden Hotel on Friday 8th November. Watch this space…..
