At Thumbsie® we love to freshen up our designs. Every child is different and we’re always keen to make sure there is the perfect design for a wide range of tastes.
You may have seen that back in June last year we started on a new design journey. The fabric used in our most popular designs was discontinued, and we struggled to find a British-based supplier. So, we very happily decided to design new fabrics ourselves.
Our new designer is the wonderful Amy Gaunt, based in Derby. And all the digital printed is done by Stuart Morris from Suffolk. So, all our new designs are made in Britain – ensuring a minimal carbon footprint, something very important to us as an environmentally conscious small business.
All our new fabrics are 100 per cent cotton and have a darker colour background to ensure they don’t start to look grubby. We know how kids love to wear them while out playing or doing craft!
It’s a priority for us that the fabric is OEKO-Tex certified too – meaning no harmful substances were used when making or printing.
We’re not there quite yet, but eventually our plan is to have all of our designs specifically made by and for Thumbsie®.
Back in June, Amy’s new designs included 3 different colour unicorns, a dinosaur, a ballerina, dogs, horses, cars, pandas and superheroes.
Not to be outdone, this time Amy has worked on designs of a mermaid, football, elephant, bunny and cat. Thank you, Amy and Stuart! We can’t wait to see the new designs in fabric.
Know a child who sucks their thumb? Do check out our existing designs and we look forward to sharing our new fabrics asap.
